Have a Healthy Cup of Cannabis Coffee

Last updated on

People choose how they want to start their day. Some pour themselves a cup of coffee or tea, while some light up and smoke Marijuana. While everyone has their own way,  what’s important is that the first thing they do sets the tone for a perfect day. At first glance, Cannabis and coffee seem to be worlds apart, but a marriage of the two does exist! Yes, there is such a wonder called Cannabis coffee.

Coming from the world of edibles like brownies, cookies, and even tea, it comes to no surprise that the cup of joe got a Ganja twist. Some say that the pairing is like peanut butter and jelly, and you’d be just as surprised at how they actually complement each other.

Caffeine and Cannabis: How They Work Together

Coffee is a go-to for many since it has caffeine, which makes you feel almost instantly awake and focused. Caffeine is also the world’s most used drug, and through coffee, people can feel the effect quite quickly. However, the crash is sudden and you might end up even less active before you had coffee.

For Cannabis, it works similarly with caffeine since the THC content breaks down the neuron barriers which contributes to controlled thought. This means that you can be more imaginative and creative compared to not being on anything, and this makes it an ideal match for coffee.

Imagine a coffee that not only will help you get focused and active – but one that can make you highly imaginative and creative as well. That’s what you’ll get with a cup of Marijuana coffee.

Does Cannabis Coffee Provide a Better Experience?

While it doesn’t necessarily mean that the experience is “better,” but research says that the caffeine prolongs the effect of Cannabis in the body. What the caffeine does is it “supplements” the effects of Cannabis in your system.

According to Dr. Gary Wenk of the Ohio State University Medical Centre,

“apparently, high doses of coffee makes us feel so good because it can tap into virtually every reward system our brain has evolved. Hidden within that hot black silken elixir is a chemical that has taken over your brain by mimicking the actions of marijuana.”

The Downside

Despite it being a dream pairing, there are still risks that it entails. Dr. Scott Krakower of Zucker Hillside Hospital in New York says caffeine may contain cognitive-enhancing properties that may be counterintuitive to the Marijuana. Krakower also mentions that the caffeine won’t necessarily cancel out the psychoactive effects from the Cannabis.

The combination may still present harmful cognitive effects, that’s why it’s important to consume this in moderation and in a responsible manner.

What are the Types of Cannabis Coffee?

Just like your neighborhood cafe, your old coffee favorites can easily be made with a “green” version. There are a lot of types of recipes out there, and some are more complex than others. Most of the recipes call for THC-infused coconut oil, while some require ground hash or leaves.

Bulletproof coffee or butter-infused coffee is becoming popular with many people since it is said to be the “most energizing” type of coffee yet.

Not only does the butter make it creamier than a traditional cup of coffee with creamer, it doesn’t have the damaging casein proteins found in the latter.

Bulletproof coffee is said to be longer-lasting and it doesn’t have a bad crash.

With that said, you can definitely try out using a small amount of Cannabutter for this. First, you need to know how to make the best type of Cannabutter. You can check out a recipe here. This is a very crucial step when it comes to edibles, and in this case – bulletproof Cannabis coffee.
