Cannabis plants have been known to human beings long before the dawn of Civilization, since then numerous people are using this magnificent plant in a diverse way.
Ancient history manifested the uses of cannabis plants against a number of diseases like chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, stress, diabetes, chemotherapy, nausea, and vomiting, but the actual hype increases when people came to know about the curing effects of cannabis oil against one of the most dangerous diseases called Cancer.
As technology advances, research has glittered the immense medical benefits of the cannabis plant.
Cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases in the world and curing against it will be a welcome sign to human prosperity.
So, does cannabis oil really help against skin cancer?
Let’s find it out.
What is Skin Cancer?
The uncontrollable abnormal growth of skin cells to form a tumor is called skin cancer.
Whenever unpaired DNA of skin got damaged by UV rays or another medium, it triggers mutation and skin cells start rapid growth to form a malignant tumor.
It generally has symptoms of dark shades over the skin and, frequently it’s been observed to most likely happen in open skin with UV radiation exposure.
There are different kinds of skin cancers such as:
1. Actinic Keratosis (AK)
2. Based Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
4. Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC)
5. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
Endocannabinoid system is a biological system responsible for neurotransmission of signals throughout the body. It includes chemical compounds and its receptors spreading throughout the body.
The endocannabinoid system is responsible for carrying psychological and cognitive process such as sleeping, fertility, pregnancy, during pre- and postnatal development, pain-sensation, appetite, memory, mood and in mediating the pharmacological effects of cannabis.
Predominantly Endocannabinoid system has 2 receptors namely CB1 and CB2.
The CB1 receptor is spread across the brain and nervous system along with different organs, tissues in the body and it’s the main target of compounds Anandamide and THC.
The CB2 receptor is responsible for regulation of appetite, pain management, and immune system functions and it’s the target receptor of 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and CBD.
For further informationon our endocannabinoid system, here is a great video with Cannabinoid Clinician, Dr John Teh:
How Cannabis Oil can Help Cure Skin Cancer
Every human cell contains a Bio-Molecular compound called Ceramide. This compound participates in numerous activities such as regulating cell differentiation (changing one cell type to another), proliferation (growth of cell), and death of a cell.
Whenever there is an excess Ceramide in the cell membrane, the cell starts dying and with a low content of ceramide makes the cells strong in energy.
When cannabis oil ingested or applied over the area of skin cancer, the THC and CBD targets the receptors of the cancer cells. It creates excess ceramide in the cancer cell results is the death of cancer cells but, it doesn’t damage the normal healthy cell. It also stops further mutation of the cancerous cell.
Check out the below video with Dr Teh, cannabis doctor if you want to learn more about these most well-known compounds of the cannabis plant, CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol):
Cannabis oil performs these following activities on the cancer cells:
- Antiproliferative – Cannabis oil prevents the cancer cell to reproduce itself further.
- Antiangiogenic – It prevents the formation of new blood vessel needed to grow a tumor.
- Antimetastatic – It prevents the cancer cells against their spreading to different organs.
- Apoptotic – It destroys the cancer cells by inducing cancer cells to commit suicide.
Apparently, there is no scientifically proven experiment about the curation of cancer with cannabis oil. As government laid strict restriction on the use of cannabis over the cancer patients, it becomes very hard to know the true potential of cannabis oil.
Most of the cancer survivors around the globe state that they have been cured with cannabis oil at very hard stages.
THC generally creates the highness effects on the brain while CBD serves medical purposes. In most cases like skin cancer, it’s fine to have some portion of THC but in other types of cancers like breast cancer, THC helps to increase a cancer tumor instead of destroying.
As cannabis has different effects on different people based on its compounds and receptors on the human body, it becomes difficult to use it in most of the other cancer treatments.
Many people tried to find out the effects it would have on the cancer cell if artificially extracted CBD is used instead of cannabis oil, but results are not even close to pure cannabis oil. Pure cannabis oil works better than the artificially extracted CBD compound, this mechanism is called Entourage effect.
Scientists and researchers are expecting the government to get rid of strict restrictions over the research of cannabis to find its true potential.
Many people have shown and accepted the positive effects of cannabis oil on skin cancer. So it’s suggestable to explore the use of cannabis oil if you’re are suffering from skin cancer.
