In this 4th episode of Greendorphin World News, Arik Reiss, the director of the Druglawed documentary series is bringing us cannabis news from the world leader in medical cannabis research, Israel.
Modern cannabis research has been thriving in Israel for over half a century and medical cannabis around the world would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for Israel.
Arik has conducted interviews in Israel for his award winning Druglawed 2 film and created this episode for you with his interview with Ma’ayan Weisberg.
Ma’ayan is a project manager at Tikun Olam Ltd, one of the largest medical cannabis producers in Israel and the world.
She sees Professor Raphael Mechoulam, the most respected scientist in the field of cannabis as the major drive behind Israel becoming the world leader in the field of medical cannabis.
“The presence of Professor Mechoulam in Israel has enabled us to have support from the medical community, I think that is an advantage and that’s why Israel is a leader in this field.”
Ma’ayan also shared her view about how the isolated molecules based pharmaceutical approach has failed society and medical cannabis might be the answer.
“Medical cannabis can become a treatment to many medications that are available today.
Many of the synthetic medicine that is available not only harming the people and creating more side effects which you need more medication for but they contaminating the environment.
They are released in our urine and go into the sewage, they go into our underground water, everything we touch is gonna be full of antibiotics and other type of chemicals.
So when we look at the world as a whole we need to support medical cannabis research and enable it to take a better path than the pharmaceutical industry.
Because today the pharmaceuticals are not for the people. They are creating medicines for revenue…
lot of the medications that are coming out today, you have a 30% success, a 40% success, that’s the maximum and we are talking about medical cannabis you can see 95% success… 80% success you know…”
